Why do people lie about an education helping you succeed in life?

You've probably noticed that we are in a recession. They don't guarantee that you'll be given a job upon graduation. There are more applicants than jobs available right now. I can't say the sky is the limits, but there are doors that will open to college graduates that are not open to less educated. We'll have to wait out the economy and hope for improvement. Right now, fast food restaurants are doing well since people cannot afford pricey meals at more exclusive places.
