How does a Humans consciousness work in Heaven?

I've been ured by believers and the faithful that all earthly concerns are left behind upon resurrection when Jesus returns. Meaning not fearing for left behind loved ones or sadness for those that were not worthy of God's eternal embrace. I'm having trouble though not seeing this as me being a Lobotomized version of who I was. I know that they say God's love will be all encomping, but when one does make it to Heaven is it really you anymore? It sounds like all the humanity that was you is gone. This sounds bizarre and a bit unnerving. You're just there to feel loved and nothing else. Forever?
