Does anyone know any tricks for dusting knick knacks?

I have a collection of fairy statues and other small resin figurines that collect dust like you would not believe and I just don't trust any cleaners to not remove the paint or somehow mess them up. There are a lot of small spaces that even cleaning with a q-tip and water won't get to. Can I soak them? Would that even work to lift the dust? I plan on putting them behind gl but there's not much sense in putting them in there dirty.
