A serious question for the faithful?

People who wrote various scriptures were writing about what they knew, based on their limited knowledge of the world around them. Many stories in the bible are just that...Stories that convey a meaning. Today, there are many churches who can't get away from "literal" interpretation. So if the bible says that the world was literally created in 7 days, then they believe just that. However, with the vast knowledge that we have today due to science, some Christians are beginning to stray away from these literal interpretations.
